institutions, public health agencies, and the legal
profession. EI experts have broad experience in
academic and federal research institutions, industry,
regulatory agencies, and research laboratories.
Examples of epidemiologic research projects include:
-
Case-control studies of risk factors
for childhood cancers
-
Nested case-control studies of the
relationship between colorectal cancer and exposures
at a petroleum refinery
-
Incidence rate analyses relating to
point-source exposures to carcinogens
-
Design of cancer incidence registries
-
Cohort mortality studies relating to
specific exposures and processing units
-
Creation of refinery history and a
detailed job-exposure matrix for refinery processing
units
-
Epidemiologic and statistical analyses
of health care data and adverse drug reactions

our team of Epidemiologists has specialized
epidemiologic study design expertise, as well as broad
experience and capability in biostatistics, biomedical
computing, chemistry, industrial hygiene, and
environmental health. Our services include study
design, sample size determination, data collection,
biostatistical analyses, interpretation of findings, and
publication support. EI scientists can
collaborate on clinical research projects at all phases,
including:
-
Grant writing
-
Study design
-
Development of Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs)
-
Study coordination
-
Sourcing and management of partners

Genetic Epidemiology
EI experts have training and expertise is
in the conduct and analysis of genetic epidemiologic
studies. Previous projects have included both
family and population-based studies which employ
epidemiological principles, statistical tools and
bioinformatics to perform linkage analyses and genetic
association studies. Our team has a strong focus
on gene-environment interactions.

Causation Analysis
EI experts
have extensive experience in causation analysis,
particularly for toxic tort litigation. An EI analysis
can assist attorneys in determining the scientific
strengths and weaknesses of potential litigation and
provide scientific support during all phases of the
case. The EI team can conduct research studies specific
to each case, as well as evaluate the analyses of other
experts. In evaluating causal associations, EI experts
conduct a weight-of-evidence analysis in order to
support their opinions. Because of our familiarity with
toxic tort litigation, we can help to design technical
strategies for arguing the merits of the client's case
and for addressing the likely counter-arguments.

epidemiology, prevention and food safety. Our broad
array of services are designed to provide a rigorous
analysis and/or evaluation of foodborne illness
etiology, causal factors, and compliance practices. EI provides the
following services to food production, food service, and
food retail professionals:
EI
professionals have the advantage of specific food safety
expertise through our sister company,
Sterilex Corporation,
a recognized leader in developing and marketing patented
